Trying my best to put all the techniques I learned to good use

I have just gone through a course at Schoolism.com taught by a favorite artist of mine, Bobby Chiu. One of the techniques I have learned is to visualize through darkness. Creating an image from darker to light. The first time I did it, I was surprised by the result:


Now Iam working on a new image applying the same technique:


It's not done yet and I am having truoble with the hair, I am dreading the wings and let's not even talk about the background! But it's fun and i like the challenge! Tips are welcome! :D
